Shion Takeda
Graphic Designer / Photographer / Product Artist

Born January 21, 2004, in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Currently a university student based in Shonan–Fujisawa.

I am Shion Takeda, a graphic designer. From an early age, I have turned my gaze outward, traveled the world, and encountered “beauty” in all its countless forms. These experiences have shaped and refined my creative thinking, which I incorporate into my work.

My goal is not simply for viewers to feel something visually and move on, but to awaken all five human senses through my creations. By continuing to explore the power of visual perception, I aim to generate new forms of expression at the intersection of sensation and concept.

I seek to challenge the viewer’s thinking and create memorable “experiences” that remain etched in their minds—breaking free from conventional frameworks and stepping into new territories of visual expression.

Margaret Burneske is a photographer and world traveler. She has been based in Tokyo, Japan for the past three years, although her photography represents her frequent travels and international perspective. Her published works include collections in DODHO Magazine, as well as Vogue’s online photography publication, Vogue Italia.
Her works are notable for their strong clarity and dream-like qualities. From tight and sharp, singular perspectives all the way to wide, detail soaked photos that gently envelop you; each image firmly seats you in an idiosyncratic point of view. This collection is a combination of images taken across several countries and continents. The interplay of light and shadow, absence versus density, and soft transitory colors are themes throughout this collection.

Margaret’s works have been described as dreamy and singular, offering something that is atmospheric and nostalgic for a place that may not have ever been.

When she is not working, Margaret can typically be found spending time with her three cats and crafting next summer’s drink of choice.

In his artistic work, the artist Marian Gayk deals intensivelywith the representation of individual personalities. In hisgraphic works, which are classically realized as drawings on paper, he develops an individual formal language in personal consultation with his models, which is then reflected in hisdrawings in his portraits and figure representations. The models are usually embedded in detailed graphic elements, which use recurring details to contrast with the gentlerdepictions of the people. In the end, he combines thesedifferent parts into his drawing process to form a closedcompositional unit and a very individual and personal visuallanguage is created.

The works shown in the exhibition “Binding” are the firstrepresentation of the artist’s artistic work in Japan and are partof a whole series of drawings that the artist has created overthe last two and a half years in collaboration with Japaneseand South Korean models, photographers and artists realized.

Marian Gayk (*1987) lives and works in North Rhine-Westphalia. He studied at the Art Academy in Münster, wherehe graduated in 2016 as a master student of Henk Visch. Since2017 he has been working as a freelance artist at home and abroad.

After graduating a university on 2009 and becoming a part of frequently keep changing society, I have longed for universality. I know imagining and creating are very important in this not at peace world, and I keep creating arts. I think an art is one of the tools which can make people cheer up. It is not necessary to live, but it is the most needed one. Everything you feel from art is in you. I think the work is my own mirror. We feel warm to see shining sunshine filtering through foliage. Like that, I hope to turn someone’s heart ahead through creating arts. May you light a warm light in your heart.

Profile

Neverland (Aran) was born in Katsuragawa, Fukuoka prefecture in 1996. He is an artist, illustrator, and designer. Graduated from the fine arts department of Kyushu Sangyo University, and moved to Tokyo to further pursue his career.

Works under a popular modern artist to learn about concepts and technique.

While in university, he studied Western art to learn about technique, history, theory, and modern art.

Currently his work consists of graphic images and oil paintings. His works are colorful and filled with creativity.

He has always loved drawing ever since he was a child.

Aran believes that every child has a feeling of a beautiful soul, but as we age, we lose this feeling. Some do not even notice this feeling.

He remembers this feeling while creating his pieces.

“I am not a genius, I am just an average person. But I look up to geniuses. When I do oil paintings, I draw people I consider to be geniuses.

Geniuses cannot draw themselves, they can be drawn as such by average people like me, who look up to respect them.

I grew up with no huge conflicts, in a normally happy life. Drawing, I had mixed feelings about my normal life. But normal is good. I’m happy to be me. I only have gratitude towards my family and everyone I met along the way.

Through my art, it’s ok if someone doesn’t like it, or likes it. I don’t want to match everyone else, I want to utilize and show my feelings and creativity.”

Born 1989 in Kyoto, raised in Yamaguchi.

Raised in a nature filled environment, the artist was always inspired to create and to draw. But as the artist started living in a city where imagination was not encouraged, they felt less hopeful about their artistic endeavors.

Living only meant to follow a manual every day for the mere purpose of survival, and they start contemplating and thinking about the idea of death.

When they reached the peak of mental and physical fatigue, they realized that if they were going to die eventually, they wanted to do something they loved while alive.

While rediscovering imagination and freedom that they suppressed for a long time, they started creating art with metals, leathers, and paintings. They discovered themselves and their taste through this process.

The artist creates a small world under the themes of life and death, nature, and freedom, in hopes that it can become a place for peace and light in someone’s life.

現代芸術家 Kajita Miki
Modern Artist Kajita Miki

Born in Izumo-shi, Shimane.
Izumo is one of the oldest places that birthed many Japanese myths. Influenced by this since childhood, Miki grew up listening to stories of myths, worlds of death, and creatures.
In particular, stories told by her grandmother had a strong influence.
Miki became interested in life and death, and started studying animals and drawing them.

Miki first met papercut art in 2008 at an antique shop, when she saw a paper cutout for a kimono design. Miki fell in love with the beauty of the design and making replicas of her own.
Later, started making her own designs.

Miki still produces pieces that are mixed with kimono paper cutout designs found in antique shops.

Many pieces are of creatures and animals, but other pieces discuss social issues, life and death, and human rights issues.

Papercut art is creating a picture with just a plain paper and a knife.
Miki feels that by creating “life” through the violent act of cutting, the art form itself represents life and death.

Miki uses self-dyed paper that has a unique shine to it.
The shine is mostly golden, and describes the strength of life in the animals depicted.
Through this work, Miki wants to convey the preciousness, strength, dignity of life, and the gratitude for death.
Materials used are not limited to paper, sometimes using leather or thin plastic.
Plastic is sometimes used to create a transparent papercut art.
Papercut art is not limited to a flat surface, but also various 3D works like costume design, interior decorations, and spaces.

Ambassador for tourism in Izumo.
