Display Period

November 23, 2013 – February 1, 2014

Profile

Dyeing Artist:Aiko Kurebayashi

As I am very fond of horses, I have mostly painted pictures of them. I believe that fine art is a powerful tool to express the beauty of horses.

I feel glad when I get comments of people that they got to like horses though my works. I am also delighted to engage in traditional Japanese Yuzen dyeing which can express the beauty of Japan as well, even though this is a tough job.

I want to put something into my works that not only makes people like it but also stirs the soul of people with a gasp.

Completed Special Graduate Glass Course of Tokyo University of the Arts

He is a creator who creates works on an ice candy motif, using casting technique and glass as their main material.

Especially in “cool it” series in which a polar bear character is combined with a melting ice candy, he succeeded in expressing the bilateral character of a polar bear, that is the symbol of vanishing natural environment as a consequence of global warming and the irony of mass consumption society as a pop animal character that flourishes in the market. He is receiving a high evaluation from various fields as an artist who connects the art scene with the new users. He is joining many personal and rotating exhibitions not only in Japan but also in overseas countries including UK and Korea.

miquraffreshia

She is an artist of exceptional talent who breaks down the stereotype of handicraft with the “Knit or Die” slogan and turns her delusions into reality with her fingertips.

She uses everything weavable or knittable as materials for creation, not only wool yarn, cloth, leather but also iron, aluminum, wires, bolts, plastic, wood. Through a process of creation by dyeing wool and weaving yarn, she is providing new and flexible viewpoints beyond the fields of fashion, art, advertisement, etc.

Also, you can feel the fundamental joy of handicraft at her unique workshops.

SHIJIMA~Silent Echoes~

Ringram is a photo creation team by SARU and Hiroki Yajima.

They create a unique world view by combining SARU’s ideas and Hiroki’s photography.

Ringram is actively challenging various themes.

For this photo exhibition “SHIJIMA~Silent Echoes,” they shot the actor Haruhiko Sato during the night-time for a year and a half under the theme of “world without time and gravity.” They used no image processing, like compositing, on this series of photos in order to capture the dynamism that comes from the existences of the nature, the places and the people…
