Seiko Shimano Exhibition

Profile
SEIKO Shimano

Born in Tokyo. Grew up in Omotesando and Shinjuku. Photographer and glass artist. In recent years I have won competitions in which National Gallery curators serve as chairs of judging and participated in many overseas exhibitions. I am broadening my work to include areas of expression to include installations. I am intrigued by phrases that, from ancient times in Japan, use the character for “road” (道) like “flower arrangement,” “tea ceremony” and “martial arts,” evoking the spirit of Zen, and invisible things…I wish to make work that depicts time and history, the beauty and strength of life, pain and transience.

In this exhibition, I plan to replace some works from the first half with those in the second half.
Closing party at 5:00pm, January 30 (Tuesday)
